Beginning of the year is the perfect time for changes, especially if you are tired of the same old stuff. Your bedroom is probably the best place to begin with since you are spending a lot of time there. The extent of changes is entirely up to you, so you can experiment with a totally new interior, or you can just add some small details. Whatever you choose to do, it will certainly infuse fresh, new energy into your bedroom design, so we can roll up our sleeves and start right away.
Take your lighting to the maximum
We don’t just sleep in our bedroom, we also apply makeup, work out, or read. This is why it is crucial that you have the best quality lighting. Know that the size of your room dictates how many additional lighting elements you are going to need. Next, consider your bedroom lighting requirements: what are the things you usually do in there? It’ll help you opt for the right lighting forms, such as ambience lighting, closet lighting, wall lamps, and chandeliers. And whatever you do, never forget the importance of natural lighting – since the windows are the brightest places in your room, position your artificial light beside the incoming window light.
Find your style
There are many different styles to choose from, you just need to find one that you like the most and that best suits your bedroom design.
Modern minimalism
People are starting to embrace the minimalist style, especially for their interiors. There is simply something oddly satisfying about that tidiness, those straight lines and peaceful colors. Not to mention that it is probably one of the easiest-to-achieve styles. Start off with swapping your beside tables with streamlined side ones, and if you really want such an aesthetically-pleasing look, make sure that it is the same height as your bed. Focus on colors, such as white, brown, black, and grey, while keeping the maximum of 3 to 4 colors in your room.

Industrial
This is a great style choice for those who want to make an impact with just a few stylish elements. The signature industrial-edge accessory is probably a bare bulb which hangs beside your shelf. Next, you can turn your bedroom wall into a gallery wall (no they are not just for the living room), thus emphasizing even more the style you want to achieve. The most important thing is to find the theme (landscape, animals, people, still life, cities, black & white, colorized etc.) and stick to it.
Scandinavian
Scandinavian style is unbeatable because of its simplicity and its easy-on-the-eye look. You will accomplish it by adding black and white accessories in your neutral and natural (white walls and a light grey carpet would be desirable) colored room. After that part is done, add a matching area rug for some texture, as a warm fuzzy place for your feet. Place it horizontally so that the longer part runs under your bed, while the other part is a few inches wider than the bed frame creating a fringe at the sides of the bed proportionally.
Antique
You can bring in some luxury to your bedroom design by adding velvet curtains and antique bedside tables. If your room is white, it will be a great neutral backdrop, but you can consider warming it up a little bit by painting one accent wall (or the one behind your bed) in a soft color, such as coffee brown, charcoal grey, rich green or mustard to add some more coziness.
Embrace mother Earth
Did you see how cute those timber bedside tables are? They are a huge hit lately, and if you are about that natural style, you have to get yourself one. Pair it up with natural fibers like crisp white or earthy toned linens. Also, you will save a lot of space if you fix your reading light to the wall, and not to mention that it will also add a much more formal aesthetic touch to your bedroom design. But make sure that you are 100% happy with your bed placement.
Give your bed an upgrade
And of course, what is decorating without upgrading your bed? If you have a bigger bed, refresh it with a comfortable super single mattress that suits your needs and adjusts to your body in the right way. Once that is done, treat yourself with some stylish new pillows. Make sure that they are as plushy as possible in order to give you the maximum resting experience. Opt for overstuffed 22-inch pillows, which besides incredible comfort, also give the entire room a dashingly elegant appearance. Now, your bed will definitely become your favorite hello and your hardest goodbye. It is not like you HAVE to come to work on time every day, right?
That would be it. Enter the New Year the right way and don’t be afraid of changes. Even if you don’t like it, you can change the whole look next year. What do you think about these ideas? Which style is your favorite? Let us know in the comments.
